Literary Analysis is a three part structure:

  1. Make an assertion/argument/statement/observation

+

  1. Prove it using specifics (quotes and/or paraphrase) from the text with citation of page/line

+

  1. Analyze/explain/interpret for dummy reader

_______________________________________

Voila! A sensible, air tight argument that no one can refute!

Using the above strategy, create air-tight statements that are truths about the following external conflicts:

1.      Antigone + Ismene

2.      Creon + Sentry

3.      Creon + Tieresias

Using the above strategy, create air-tight statements that are truths about the following internal conflicts:

1.      Antigone

2.      Creon

3.      Haemon

4.      Ismene

5.      Sentry

6.      Eurydice

Using a Critical Lens

  1. State the lens/direct quote
  2. Interpret the lens in YOUR OWN WORDS
  3. Apply the interpretation to the text being analyzed. THIS IS YOUR ASSERTION/OBSERVATION  (see above)
  4. Use TBE to support your assertion!
  5. Explain how/why that TBE supports your assertion.

Create critical analysis on Antigone using the following statements as separate lenses.

  1. The human is great yet vulnerable.
  2. The human is virtuous yet guilty.
