End of the World Reflections

Group Work: Arthur Clarke’s “The Star”
Scientists have just
discovered that a giant meteor is going to hit Earth and wipe us out.
Imagine you are on a team chosen
to select items for a vault built for Earth. You must decide what should be
included in it to be possibly found in the future by other living and
intelligent creatures. You may include only 6 items, however, because many
other teams are representing other cultures across the world and there is limited
space. You must assume that any future cultures finding your vault will not
speak the language or have the same technologies. Work creatively to solve this
potential dilemma.
