Introducing My Story’s Character(s)
After you have sketched out your basic conceptual “what if” scenario, you need to start putting faces with the theory. In this exercise, you should imagine who your main character or characters will be and give them definition. For each character, please use the following for you planning. Please do all planning on separate sheets of loose-leaf so they can be collected:
NAME
AGE
SEX
RACE
OCCUPATION
DESCRIBE CHARACTER or PERSONALITY
BRIEF BACKGROUND (where has this person been prior to your story?)
WHAT DOES THE CHARACTER DESIRE OR WANT?
WHAT IS STANDING IN HIS OR HER WAY?
WHY?
WHAT IS CHARACTER WILLING TO DO?
WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER’S GREATEST FLAW?
DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE A SECRET?
WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER’S GREATEST STRENGTH?
DURING THE COURSE OF YOUR STORY, WILL THIS CHARACTER GROW/LEARN or
REMAIN THE SAME (static) or DEVOLVE? Explain.
