Genocide Awareness Day Writer Response

Yesterday, Schreiber hosted 22 speakers throughout the day who shared their experiences about surviving genocide. Let’s take a moment from our busy lives to think about what we heard.

AUDIENCE:

You may write to Mr. Begun, one (or more) of the speakers, or yourself (like a journal).

CONTENT:

These are guideline questions. You don’t need to answer each one.

• Write about what you “took” from the day.
• How were you touched?
• Did the talk/s impact you? Explain why or why not.
• What did you learn that you didn’t before?
• Did you see reoccurring elements in the speakers’ stories?
• Reflect on your life. Do you see your situation differently? Explain.

• Do you know anyone personally who has survived a genocide? What could you add to the talks on his/her behalf? [Give him or her a voice]
