Op-Ed Pre-Writing Worksheet
Our Opinion Can Change the World!
You should alone for this exercise. You should fill out this worksheet BEFORE beginning your editorial. Ms. G needs to approve it before you write it.
Op-Eds look a lot like editorials but have a byline and sometimes even use “I.” Pick a position on a topic that interests you – serious or funny. Like the editorial, note that pointing out what’s wrong is easier than contributing to a problem’s solution – and a good op-ed’s concern should be to better a situation, not bludgeon it. Be smart! Don’t whine or gripe – use your energy to convince!
1. What is a problem/issue that our entire student body or community faces today? Please detail here.
2. What is your view/position on the problem or situation?
3. What would you like to achieve with your column? (What is the desired result?)
