Profile Piece Checklist

 

Þ  There is a catchy headline

Þ  There is a sub headline that reveals the glue /thesis

Þ  There is a byline

Þ  The piece is 1000 words; no more, no less

Þ  The article has a focal point which holds the whole piece together / glue

Þ  The paragraphs are concise

Þ  There is a quote in each paragraph

Þ  The author has avoided referring to him or her self / no “I”

Þ  The author has not written reference to the interview itself (“When interviewed, ___ said” or, “When asked how she felt, __ said…”

Þ  Uses the subjects’ full names once at first and then only last names

Þ  The piece is interesting!

Þ  The subject’s past, present, and future have been addressed in RELATION to the glue

Þ  The subject’s attitude / philosophy / mindset are evident in the piece and in relation to the glue

Þ  You have interview notes to submit with the final draft

Þ  Two other people have been interviewed and quoted in the article about the person and glue

Þ  The quotes from the other sources are relevant and interesting

Þ  The piece feels complete

Þ  Don’t forget to bring in a magazine to emulate for layout

Þ  Don’t forget to bring in pictures of yourself that illustrate the glue your partner chose to write about
