Ms. Gokturk
Writing for the 21st Century
Because you have all chosen a different FINAL PROJECT (the
children’s book, the PowerPoint, or the Interactive Web Page), your cooperation
is needed in making each class session run smoothly. Please note what each task
requires daily.
The Children’s Book
- Please
read the Assignment Sheet
- Then complete
the character web
- Complete
the Creating the Main Character for the Story sheet
- Once
these steps have been completed, begin your storyline. Please note that
your project is “art intensive” – you will have to draw pictures or
construct collages. Therefore, plan your storyline accordingly. Please see
Liz B.’s book as a sample of high level work.
The PowerPoint
- Because
you will have more time to create a presentation, your slideshow should be
at LEAST 10 content slides (not 8), + a title slide and Bibliography
Slide.
- Please
make sure that you cite each graphic on the graphic itself and provide a
Bibliography Slide that gives credit to the books and sites you used.
- Vary your
backgrounds & graphics
- Simplify
your text to serve as reinforcement information for YOUR SPEECH. This is a
speech!
- Rehearse
your speech. Your talk should be clear, loud, and engaging.
- You
will also be required to bring in a supplement (which is designated as
extra credit on the rubric, but since we have the time, it is now a
requirement): this can be a handout, an audio supplement, or anything else
that will enhance your presentation.
The Web Page
- The
purpose of your web page is to publish your written work, provide a forum
for your guests to learn more with additional links, and serve as a PR
forum.
- You
have been given a template for your index page, but you should not limit
yourself to this. Ms. G will show you tricks you can use to enhance the
pages, though you should feel free to use the links at the bottom of our
calendar page for additional ideas and tutorials. Please pick up an HTML
packet as well.
- Please
make sure that you have ALL of your written work form this term on your U
drive here at school for next class as Ms. G will show you how to post
your work online. Also have the copies that you turned in so you can use
them to edit your work. Be sure to proofread and edit errors, make sure
your citations are correct, and remove your LAST NAME from all documents.
When stumped on part of the webpage, edit your existing work. You don’t
want it to look icky.
